These photographs of the Old Theatre and Freedom Square were taken when work just started on the new parliament as part of the Renzo Piano Project for the entrance to Valletta.
Architect Renzo Piano unveiled the designs for the entrance to Valletta on Saturday 27th June 2009. This extensive project is expected to be completed by 2014. Piano’s plan include the new parliament that will be built in Freedom Square, restoring City gate to its original design of 1633, re building the Old theatre for out door performances, re furbish Valletta bus terminus, a new lift from City Gate down to Valletta ditch that will be turned into public gardens and other over all restorations.
