With in the next few weeks the new lift at Upper Barraka gardens will become very well recognised. It is a modern designed addition to the Valletta Grand Harbour. My photograph has nothing to do with the past lift.

Malta is currently passing through a very delicate period. Economically stable unlike other E.U.countries but politically we are in trouble. Two leaders. Very different men. Serious issues.

A bridge. Linking the new lift to Upper Barraka Gardens, very high up at the top,  looks like its floating. At the bottom, you can see what appears to be roofs of homes in the distance. Two men. Both looking down. Different posture. One looks relaxed, lost in taught. The other leaning down, looking to the side. What are they looking at? Down below them. What is on their left and right? Were does the back part  lead to?The squares and lines in the design show uniformity. Blocks of concrete side by side. Independent squares.

Two men on top. Which direction will they take.

This shot has been in my mind since i saw the  newly built bridge that connects the lift to Upper Barraka Gardens. Over the past few months  I passed  from there to have a look at what was happening. At the same time Malta is passing through a tough political period. Our future is at stake. I knew that people will be crossing. They will do so when in Valletta for errands, so normally these would be 2 persons, maybe with a child. I planned the shooting position, calculated the best time of day that lights it up and waited for the announcement of it opening. This was Saturday night and Sunday opened for public. Perfect. Sunday is booked to shoot this. Weather  and light was perfect. I placed my self in the planned position, set up exposure, aperture etc and waited. I was there for 50min. Took 11 shots. Chose 2. One is the image above. 1st part of the story. The other image, below is the end of the story. One man is the winner. looking up, its all in his hands now.
