Free Daniel Holmes Protest ,Valletta, 26-10-2013

A small group of family, friends and supporters gathered in Valletta this morning to protest against the tough sentence given to Daniel Holmes.

After being found in possession of cannabis plants, Mr.Holmes was sentenced to over 10 years including a €23,000 fine. According to Maltese law the plants he owned resulted in trafficking . This is  considered a serious criminal offence.

Decriminalise Cannabis Protest – May 2012

A group of around 200 people gathered in Valletta to stage the2nd protest demanding the decriminalisation of cannabis for personal use.  This protest was the result of recent court issues were young persons were given extreme jail sentences when compared to other crimes. A father who defiled his 9 year old daughter over many years only received 5 years. A magistrate found guilty of accepting thousands of Maltese Lira in bribes to reduce the jail sentence of a well know, ironically, drug criminal got less then two years. A young man found guilty of growing two cannabis plants is appearing in court with the possibility of getting not less then 2 years jail while another young man found with half a dozen plants has been sentenced to 11 years! Yes, 11 years!!!!!!!!!

Anti Gaddafi Protest in Valletta – 19 March 2011

A  group of around 100  Libyans, Maltese and foreigners joined a protest in Valletta on Saturday in support for the pro democracy protesters in Libya. This event was very peaceful and only lasted for about an hour. These protesters walked from City Gate down to the Law Courts chanting unti Gaddafi and unti regime slogans. There were no sentiments against the French, British and Americans. When this protest was over the organizers simply collected the banners, thanked every one and left Valletta.
