Valletta FC Champions 2016

For the 23rd time Valletta FC were crowned Champions 2016 and as every one knows, no one throws a street party as good as Valletta’s supporters! Malta’s capital city turns into a sea of red and white flags and quite a few ‘sailor’ costumes. This sailor custom refers to Valletta’s rivals Floriana.

Short videos of the event can be seen on my Valletta Champions 2016 Video page or directly on my YouTube channel.

PORTRAITS – Keltika Live in Concert

 15th &16th March 2014

The Grand Ballroom – Phoenicia Hotel

Now in its sixth year, Keltika, will be bringing you two evenings of LIVE Irish and Celtic music by our very own talented choir and orchestra under the Musical Direction of Michelle K. Paris.

The group is made up of passionate singers and musicians, both from Malta and beyond, who share a love for Celtic music and who love to come together to share their talents whilst fundraising for a good cause.

Proceeds from the Keltika annual concerts (which always take place around St. Patrick’s Day weekend) have supported a number of charitable institutions and projects over the past years. This year, we have chosen to support Inspire, “a non-profit organisation that leads the way in providing therapeutic, education and leisure services to persons with disabilities in Malta and Gozo”.

This year’s concert, Portraits, will feature all time favourites such as Black Velvet Band and Star of County Down, traditional folk tunes as well as songs by Enya and Celtic Woman. It will be an evening jam packed with great music and good cheer!

The concert will commence at 7.30pm with doors open at 6.45pm. Duration: approximately 2 hours with an intermission of 15/20 minutes. This is a free seating event.

Tickets cost €10.00 (the proceeds of this event will go to Inspire).

Tickets can be booked in advance by emailing Michelle K. Paris.

*Tickets available at the door subject to availability.

For more information please visit Keltika’s FaceBook Page.

Please also visit Inspire’s site.

We look forward to seeing you at the concert!

Carnival 2014, 4 March

The last day of a wet Carnival. Rain stopped for a couple of hours but not enough time to convince many people to come down to Valletta on the last day of Carnival 2014. Most who made it came dressed in warm clothing but i manages to find a few interesting subjects to shoot. I will head to Floriana this evening for the last night. Last night of Carnival in Floriana was canceled due to heavy rain.

Bendy Bus grave yard

This post entitled Bendy Bus grave yard came about after reading an article in The Times of Malta that said the Arriva owned bendy buses had been sold by Transport Malta and will soon head to Sudan. I was a happy man after reading this because this meant these hell on wheels will never be on our roads again. With a smile on my face i headed off to Horns Ditch in Floriana to shoot the Bendy Bus grave yard.

These photographs of the Old Theatre and Freedom Square were taken when work just started on the new parliament as part of the Renzo Piano Project for the entrance to Valletta.

Valletta FC Champions Celebration 2012 – 11 May

Valletta FC supporters are well known for their celebrations after winning a trophy or a league and this year was no exception. Valletta was packed with supporters of all ages, dressed in white and red waving flags, dancing and singing along. Some wore costumes of sailors, an old tradition in reference to their disliking of Floriana.

These are a few photos from the 11th May. For the whole collection please go to Valletta FC Champions. Continue reading
